Overview of Armada’s ARG, JP, and AR7

This past week we got the chance to sit down with Mike Laroche of Armada ski company and get a brief overview of several of their new skis coming out next year.  Listening to him just wasn’t enough, so we also had to take a couple for some laps.

The two skis we rode from their new line were the ARG and the JP.  We were lucky enough to have gotten about 3-4″ of fresh snow at Alpine Meadows the night before we got on the hill, so we found some wind blown areas that really allowed us to put these skis to the test.

Overall, our thoughts are that if you only get two skis; a powder ski and a park ski, then the JP is going to be a more versatile set of boards.  For a large ski, they turn fairly quick, and there is enough edge that you can still bust out a big GS carve down a steep face.  Compared to much older models of JPs, these new ones had a much more solid feel with very little chattering at high speeds. You know what though?  Screw everything else because these things can butter in the backcountry like Aunt Jemima.  Riding switch in pow with these just turns the whole mountain into your sandbox of joy.

Where the ARG really excels is in the trees.  Suppose you are baller and you get three skis: park ski, midfat, and pow ski.  This ski will round out your quiver for those days where it just dumps.  Even though we only had 4″ of fresh snow, these things just DO NOT sink.  Riding switch in pow with a reverse sidecut ski was a tad awkward, but they can still do it quite well once you get used to it.

Big thanks to Mike for taking the time to do the interview with us.  Better nab these skis next year ASAP if you’re in the market.  You can find them at your local ski shop, in the backcountry, or on the podium.

Nreazon at Dragatomi

Against The Grain
Our friend’s over at Dragatomi will be hosting a solo exhibition for Nreazon.  Nreazon is a Texas based artist that has expanded into the world of urban art through her toys. Her work is super awesome, so if you can make it…do it.  We’re using it as an excuse to pit stop on the way to Tahoe. It will feature lots of paintings on wood as well as kokeshi dolls. We’re really excited to be featuring her art at our gallery which focuses on bright bold colors, with a Tokyo Pop feel to it with her characters showing many ranging emotions and having a kawaii feel all at the same time. Nreazon will also be in attendance for the opening. So, make sure you stop by and see all of the work she’ll have up for the show. See you all there!

Opening reception will be on Saturday, February 13th 2010 at 7:00 pm
The show will run from Febraury 13th until March 6th

You can also catch a peek of some of Nreazon’s exclusive pieces right here in the Delicious Drips store.
