Optimizing your EQ Settings with iPhone/iPod

If you are an audiophile like we are, then  this article  shows you step-by-step how to modify the EQ settings on your iPhone or iPod to achieve optimal clarity  These settings are typically only found in the iPod Touch, Classic, and iPhone.   This is all info that is readily available in your SkullyBoom SB1 user manual, but who reads it? This not only makes your speaker sounder clearer, but louder, without risking damage to the driver.

Step 1: Go to “settings” on the main menu

Step 2: Select “iPod or Music depending on if you have an iPod or iPhone.

Step 3: Select “EQ“.  This will take you to a list of various equalizer settings that you may find useful depending on the type of music you prefer.

Step 4: Select the “Bass Reducer” setting.  This setting is especially useful if you listen to bass heavy music and still want to get the clarity.

Typically we don’t turn our volume up past 95%, and we’ve found that our tunes still hit hard with a nice full range.  Not only will this make your music sound better, but it will prolong the life of your speaker and the run time on your battery so it’s a win, win, win, win, and win.  We also find that performance varies from song to song, so you may also want to play with settings and find what works best for your listening style.

SB1 on Zlog Blog Gear Review

Zlog is a Seattle based company rooted in the urban fixed gear culture.  You can find them at just about all the events providing media coverage on the regular at www.zlogblog.com.  Established in 2008 by Zach Hoffner, 24, it began as a personal blog but rapidly became a bike blog, fixed specific, informing visitors of what was happening, bike wise, in the Northwest USA and essentially putting Seattle on the map.  Recently, they posted a gear review on the SB1 speaker, and we’re stoked that they liked it.

If you get the chance to make it over to their site, don’t forget to check out the Zlog Boutique which has some really cool hats and tees.  They have a super rad logo and a great choice of colors on every piece they put out.  We’re gonna get fitted!

The BOOM-BUS Debuts in LA

GMC Savanna

SkullyBoom is all about being on the move, so consequentially, having a rad van is essential.  The BOOM-BUS is a 2005 GMC Savanna with AWD.  Yes, we will be taking it to the snow…often.    We ripped out everything in the interior and threw in a bench for our crew members, as well as enough storage for about 1000 SB1s.  Pronto Cuts (www.prontocuts.com) took care of the die-cut vinyl.  The BOOM-BUS is decked in a tank-like matte black finish with blacked out tail lights (Tinted by Audio Images in Belmont, CA). Lastly, we’ve added some 7-inch rally lights to the front to navigate our way into the craziest renegade parties in the pacific.

Find the BOOM-BUS at an event near you!

JeffyD of Slumworm Crew Killin’ it….

The guys of at Slumworm are enjoying their last moments of summer putting down some nasty shots on the asphalt.  Matt Reyes (aka Slum) commented on one of his most recent peieces:

“I was going to throw this photo up in the post A Day Out W/ JeffyD, but I totally blanked on it. It’s alright though, I think it looks better as a standalone piece anyways. Despite the shattered bottles everywhere, the awkward angle, zero runway, and pillar with rusty metal waiting for you just after the landing, Jeff still couldn’t wait to hit this beast. We used Gonzo as a cushion, so that if Jeff fell on the pillar, he wouldn’t die from the rusty metal.”
