Heading to Vegas for Interbike 2013

Interbike has historically been our second favorite tradeshow in the whole wide world. Second only to ISPO in Europe (because we rage all day and then go skiing in the Swiss Alps, so it’s really hard to compete with). We COULD just fill up the trailer and make the awful drive through the desert and cross our fingers that the raper van doesn’t break down, but instead we’re going to detour through LA for some top secret filming. We figured why not move the whole office to SoCal for the week. We’re ultraportable.

interbike distribution deals

We recently inked a deal with the largest bike part distributer in ‘Merica: QBP (Quality Bike Parts). For those that don’t know, the QBP catalog is known as the bible of bike gear. Our company has been to Interbike for 3 years now (Imagine that? We’re getting old!) which has allowed us to move onto the main floor for position right next to Chrome Bags. This deal really solidified our place within the bike market. The relationship with QBP is going to allow us to continue focusing our efforts as a rider centric company.

We have several new gadgets that we are going to be putting in your hands this year. Only two years ago, we were busting ass to get our Bike Bar Mount in our hands before the show. The part was poorly designed and it wouldn’t withstand the test of any serious rider. This year, you’ll be able to check out the newest Boombot REX alongside our newest bar mount. The new bar mount has a completely redesigned hinging mechanism for the ultimate in device security on intense rides.

Interbike Release

We’ll have Jason Clary’s full winning race setup on display at our booth including his very own pro model. If you’re lucky, he might just touch it with the hand of an angel.

outdoor demo

If all goes smoothly on our way to Interbike, we might have an extra day to get out to Bootleg Canyon for the Outdoor Demo. This is an event where you can demo all of the latest bike toys and put them to the test on a seriously gnarly downhill course. This is actually our favorite part of the trip. We had set up a booth here early on, but we quickly realized that the proper way to showcase Boombots on this venue was to ride the…hard. I’ll likely find myself on a Yeti or a Santa Cruz Nomad on this trip.

Jason Clary State Bicycles x Boombotix Pro Models

Jason ClarySince Jason Clary’s recent victory at Red Bull Ride and Style, he has been in constant motion. He recently inked a new deal with State Bicycle Company landing him an all new race setup. To compliment the new look, we built Jason a custom Boombot REX for his training rides.

Don’t mind the spandex laden cyclist below. Clary doesn’t have the kind of physique for that. You’re more likely to find Jason riding topless without his teeth.

Jason has bounced around with bike sponsors in search of a partnership that really extended his brand in the right way. It’s never really been an issue with equipment. Part of it has just been a constant struggle to manage the expectations between athlete and company. A number of our employees at Boombotix ride State Bicycles to work, so having a team rider shared between our brands is also a great thing. We’re stoked that he’s been with our bike team from the start and excited to see what he will be laying down on the pavement in upcoming years.

“In my heart, I’m a racer. Riding is my passion. Anything with wheels. As long as I’m on the bike my life works out right. Bottom line, I’m going to keep riding as long as I can.” Source: Wolfpack Hustle

Red Bull Ride and Style

boombotix riders take the top podium spots

San Francisco, CA- Red Bull Ride and Style took place this weekend on a gorgeous blue bird day on the Embarcadero.  The course was beautiful, creative, and colorful; The perfect canvas for the worlds top singlespeed riders to put down their fastest runs and their best freeride tricks.  Team rider and winner of the Ride and Style race segment, Jason Clary,  was quoted saying,

“I was up till 5am last night and pulled this out of my ass.”

It’s not insightful.  It’s not inspiring.  It’s just downright Jason Clary at his finest.

Chain Gangsta now shipping to a hood near you

Who is Jason Clary?  He rides dirty, pops wheelies through San Francisco streets and redefines the term “career as a professional cyclist.” Not to mention, he’ll happily buy you a tall can. Clary has always been the loud mouth on tour so naturally Boombotix saw a great personality to align with the brand.

The Clary-inspired Chain Gangsta Boombot2 features water transferred 4-color graphics depicting a variety of cogs and bike chains wrapping the entire unit. Clary commented on the piece, “Boombots have basically become standard issue gear for messenger bikers in SF, NY, and LA. When they [Boombotix] came to me with the idea to make a pro model, I was just about to leave for Fixed Fest in Jakarta. I just started to realize that even at 30, I am spending all day riding my bike, training, travelling around the world. Music has always been an essential piece to driving my training regiment and fueling my after party, so I’m ecstatic to get to work on a project like this with the Boombotix crew.”

The Chain Gangsta Limited Edition Boombot 2 features Bluetooth technology for wireless playback with all smartphones, tablets and laptops. The unit can also be daisy chained to external speakers or additional units for stereo sound. Speaker and optional bike mounts are available directly at boombotix.com, iMinusD, and Area Cycles, Mission Bicycle Co., and Ride SFO.

Limited to 800 pieces worldwide.
